The Best Friend
In this poem “A Dog’s Life” by Daniel Groves, I can’t really understand his feelings for his dog. Because when you have a good dog like he said, you don’t have to make the decision of putting him to sleep. The Dogs are the best friend for a man, and not matter how bad is his behavior is your friend and he will be there for you not matter what. Is like the people, they have different thoughts and behaviors but that does not signify that they don’t really loves you and wants the best for you. When we have a problem, we can’t solve it always running away of it or moving away. We have to fight for a reason and make a solution.
Daniel Groves tell us through his poem that he has a dog, a really good dog but he has to put him to sleep. Is the last day with him and Daniel is looking and talking remembering the good times that they had together. In other words Daniel is telling him why he makes that decision and what I can understand he makes it because the dog has bad behaviors and didn’t let Daniel sleep in the night. But that barks in the night that didn’t let Daniel sleeps is for “some menace looming in the dark” like he say in the poem, so the dog was protecting him. A dog sometimes has conducts that we can’t understand, like the people do, but we have to think that maybe that conduct is for something good and for our protection.
In my personal opinion I don’t believe in put to sleep a dog, because he has feelings and rights. And if is a good dog why I have to do it, I learned through all my life that a Dog is the best friend ever. He is always waiting happy for you at home and no matter how bad been your day, he is always there happy to make you laugh. Daniel knows that and I believe that he change her decision at the end.

Essay # 2
Two Different Stories
Are two different stories but with some connections, “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkner and “A Good Man is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor. Is natural that these stories don’t have any connection because the writers are different and with different types of writing, but when we read them we can see some things that connects in both stories. “A Rose for Emily” is a story that talks about a woman that lives in a strange country and there habitants are always talking about her and her decisions. In “A Good Man is Hard to Find” the author talks about a family that makes a road trip and in the way something unexpected happen. So we can see that the main ideas of the stories are not the same. But in both stories an old house appears in the most important moment and development of these, in addition of the final of the two stories that have an unexpected end.
In “A Rose for Emily” almost all the story take place or have involved an old house, the house of Emily. That house is described like an old and big house where she lives alone. Emily lives in the house and the only things that the people, who live in her country, don’t know are the things that happen inside the house because nobody enters. At the end of the story Emily decide to keep her self inside the house and the habitants did not saw her in a long time. That moment is the most important in the story because is the moment that nobody knows something about Emily and what she was doing, this occurs in the pick of the story. In other way in the story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” at the middle of the trip, the grandmother propose to go to an old house that she used to visit when she was young. This occurs at the middle of the story and is the way where something unexpected happen and when the end of the story takes place. So we can see that the old house appears in some important moments in the stories and is where the important things take place.
In the story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” the end was unexpected and a total disaster because the man that escape of the penitentiary, was the one that found the family when the car accident occurred. Then the man kills all the family including the grandmother and that is the end of the story. When I was reading the story I was involved in the trip and the story that the grandmother was telling to the kids, never cross my mind that kind of end. Other wise in “A Rose for Emily” the thing that the habitants of the country suspected was exactly what occurred, Emily brought the poison to kill Homer and at the end of the story, Homer were found inside the house dead. Both ends were unhappiest and macabre because some people die and the things that nobody wanted occurs.

But both stories have in its development an old creepy house that appears in the middle of the stories and is where the important parts occur. In old times the marriages were fixed by the family and the ladies got married younger. In this novel called "Romeo and Juliet" we can see how a family make pressure to the decision of choosing some one to get married to the youngest Juliet. A decision that is so important in a life for a women, because will be that men the one that spend the rest of his life with her, and will be the father of her child. The person that will spend the rest of the life with you have to be a great man, and is important that you love him and he love you, because is with love and is difficult, imagine what can happen without it. This decision have to be personal, is not a family decision. Juliet is a 14 years old lady that have the pressure of his family to married Paris, a man that she don’t even know. That situation turn her life sad and without hope. We can’t choose the person that we suppose to love, this feeling is natural and we can’t control it. The tragedy begins when Juliet accidentally falls in loves with Romeo the enemy of her family, but she couldn’t control that. For that time Juliet getting married with an enemy of the family was impossible so she have to do the most desperate action, an action that ends in death.
Juliet was an innocent, beautiful and happy girl before her mother begins to pressure her and the love arrives in her life. She was in love with Romeo and she couldn’t do anything, was love at the first sight, passionate and very hard. For that reason they married in secret with the objective of preserve there love. your day, old Everydog, then, as they say,
or as we say (a new trick to avoid
finalities implicit in destroyed),
you have to be put down, orput to sleep—
the very dog who, once, would fight to keep
from putting down, despite our shouts, a shoe
until he gnawed it to the sole, and who
would sit up, through our sleepless nights, to bark
away some menace looming in the dark.
Can you pick up the sense of all this talk?
Or do you still just listen for a walk,
or else, the ultimate reward, a car?—
My God, tomorrow's ride . . . Well, here we are,
right now. You stare at me and wag your tail.
I stare back, dog-like, big and dumb. Words fail.
No more commands, ignore my monologue,

"Hills Like White Elephants"
In this reading by Ernest Hemingway, we can’t know clearly the issue that they are talking about in the conversation between the man and the girl. They are talking about a problem that they have, and they can resolve it with an operation. Through the conversation we can assume that they like to travel, drink alcohol and go to parties, they have a free relationship and the problem will make the end of that life. But reading the opinion of the girl I understand that maybe she doesn’t want to make the operation, for that reason I think that the problem is a baby. Having a baby represents the end of the man’s free life. And that's why he wants the girl make an abortion. All the conversation is about how easy is that operation and the opinion of both to make it. But at the end I think that she decide to not make it.
